EasyJet has announced the launch of 13 new winter routes from eight regional airports across the UK, including a historic first international service from Cornwall Airport Newquay — one of the smallest commercial airports in the country.
Newquay Airport: Small but Busy
Despite occupying a sprawling 850-acre site, Newquay Airport features just one passenger terminal with limited facilities. Its intimate layout allows for quick check-ins, typically taking only a few minutes. The departure lounge is basic, comprising a single open space with a handful of gates and a small cafe. Yet the airport handles around 400,000 passengers annually, with most flights connecting to domestic hubs like Manchester and London, alongside a few international destinations served by Ryanair, Aer Lingus, and Eurowings.
EasyJet's New Geneva Route
On June 18, EasyJet confirmed it will launch flights between Newquay and Geneva — its first international route from the Cornish airport. The service will operate once a week on Saturdays from January 16 to February 27, 2027. Currently, European destinations from Newquay include Alicante, Faro, Málaga, Düsseldorf, and Zürich. This new route expands options for Cornish residents seeking European travel.
Earlier in March, EasyJet also announced summer flights between London Gatwick and Newquay, starting June 23, 2026, with twice-weekly services on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Geneva: A Stunning but Expensive Destination
Known as the 'city of peace', Geneva sits at the southern tip of Lake Geneva, bordered by France and Switzerland and framed by the Alps.
