A traveler passing through Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas won more than $3.3 million on a slot machine on Sunday, according to airport officials and the gambling company International Game Technology (IGT). The winner, identified by IGT as "Anthony," hit the jackpot while playing Wheel of Fortune Gold Spin Triple Red Hot 7s Slots with a $10 bet.
Airport and company confirm the win
Airport officials posted on X on Tuesday: "Now that's one way to spend a layover. Congratulations to a lucky traveler who hit a $3.3[m] jackpot on the Wheel of Fortune slot machine over the weekend in C Gates at [Reid] Airport! Congratulations on your incredible win, and thanks for making [the airport] part of your lucky journey!" IGT also confirmed the win and shared a photo of a smiling middle-aged man posing beside the slot machine.
Tax implications
Gambling winnings over $5,000 are subject to an automatic 24% federal tax withholding, according to the Internal Revenue Service. However, Nevada does not tax lottery winnings or personal income, which may benefit the winner.
Recent similar wins at the airport
This jackpot follows a $1.8 million win on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine in the airport's D Gates in May 2025. The winner was not identified. In September 2024, a traveler in terminal one won $348,507.71 on a Wheel of Fortune Triple Double Emeralds slot machine with a $1.25 bet, as reported by the Sacramento Bee.
