Alternative London Marathon: Saucony 10k Offers Landmarks, Crowds, Easy Entry
Saucony London 10k: Easy Alternative to Marathon with Landmarks

Nearly 20,000 runners participated in the Saucony London 10k on July 12, 2026, an alternative to the London Marathon that offers iconic landmarks and crowd support without the ballot entry system. The race, organized by Saucony, provides a more accessible option for those unable to secure a Marathon spot.

Route and Landmarks

The 10k route passes several of London's most famous landmarks, including the London Eye, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, and Downing Street. According to participant Emily Malia, this aspect is the race's main selling point, as running past these iconic spots feels more special than a typical park run.

Organization and Experience

Communication from Saucony via email and on-day organization were clear and efficient. Runners could move between pens to join friends. Despite forecasted 30-degree heat, a breeze, crowd energy, water stations, and mist showers kept participants comfortable. Each kilometer was clearly signposted, though one runner noted their Garmin watch measured slightly before the markers, and the total distance was about 200 meters over 10 km.

Atmosphere and Community

The event featured banging drums at Piccadilly Circus, music along the route, and words of encouragement. With England winning the World Cup quarter-finals the night before, many participants waved England flags or wore themed T-shirts, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. Photographers captured runners at scenic points, with photos available for purchase from £9.95 each.

Entry and Value

Entry fees started at £15 for those registering with chosen charities and fundraising, while others paid upwards of £50. This fee included a medal, T-shirt, tote bag, and water during and after the race. According to Malia, the race is highly recommended for first-time 10k runners, those not ready for the London Marathon, or those who repeatedly fail to gain entry to the Marathon. She confirmed she will sign up for the 2027 event.
