Lego has unveiled a £190 SpongeBob SquarePants set designed for adult fans, marking the first time the franchise has received a Lego set aimed at older audiences. The set, named SpongeBob SquarePants: Bikini Bottom, includes detailed recreations of iconic locations from the show.
Set Details and Features
The Bikini Bottom set (number #11386) consists of 1,794 pieces and will retail for £189.99 when it launches on September 1. Pre-orders are available now on the Lego website. The set includes SpongeBob's pineapple home, Squidward's Moai-shaped house, Patrick's rock, and Jellyfish Fields. Each building features detailed interiors, such as SpongeBob's TV and bed, Squidward's bathroom and clarinet area, and a removable sun lounger on Squidward's roof. Patrick's rock lifts up to reveal its interior.
Additional elements include the boatmobile, the Bikini Bottom sign, and the Bubblestand from season one. The set also contains numerous hidden references to famous episodes, rewarding long-term fans.
Minifigures and Omissions
The set includes minifigures of SpongeBob, Patrick Star, and Squidward, plus brick-built versions of Gary the snail and DoodleBob from the episodes Frankendoodle and Doodle Dimension. Notably absent are Mr. Krabs, Plankton, and Sandy Cheeks, suggesting potential future sets. According to Lego, this is the first SpongeBob SquarePants set aimed at adults, following a line of simpler sets released in the mid-2000s.
Alternative Option
For a more affordable option, Lego will also release a SpongeBob SquarePants BrickHeadz set on the same day for £10.99. BrickHeadz are Lego's equivalent to Funko Pop! figures.
