Katie Price launched a blistering attack on ex-husband Alex Reid, dismissing him as a 'nobody' and insisting he is only famous because of their whirlwind marriage. The former glamour model, 48, didn’t hold back while appearing on Joe Baggs’ Not My Bagg podcast, where a conversation about celebrity encounters unexpectedly turned into a savage assessment of her former husband.
When Baggs revealed Reid had been the first celebrity he’d ever met, Price immediately questioned the description. 'But is he?' she replied. 'What, because he k*****d me? Like, what makes him a celebrity? When they associated with me, they were nothing, and I mean nothing.'
Price claims she was the breadwinner
She went on to claim she had been the driving force behind their relationship, adding: 'Just because they’ve been with me suddenly they think they are a celebrity. They ponce around me, use me. I’m the breadwinner and it becomes boring.'
The comments mark the latest chapter in the former couple’s long-running public feud, which has shown little sign of cooling despite their marriage ending more than a decade ago. Price and former cage fighter Reid first met at Michelle Heaton’s 30th birthday party in 2009 before tying the knot in a surprise Las Vegas ceremony the following February. The romance unravelled almost as quickly as it began, with the pair separating less than a year later. Their divorce was finalised in 2012 following a series of increasingly public rows and tell-all interviews.
Legal battles and injunction
In 2019, Katie was ordered to pay Alex £140,000 in legal fees after she was accused of playing a sexually explicit video clip of Alex to a TV studio audience off-camera while filming an episode of Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit On The Side in 2018. She was also handed a five-year injunction preventing her from sharing any private information about their relationship.
Last year, Alex posted a dramatic video in which he threatened to 'expose the truth.' He said: 'Over the years, you’ve seen countless stories by Katie Price directed at me, Peter Andre, Kieran Hayler, and others. I am spearheading a campaign to expose the truth. This isn’t about gossip, it’s about evidence. It isn’t about rumour, it’s about reality. After years of silence, the time has finally come to reveal all. This is bigger than one person. It’s about honesty, accountability, and supporting those that have been silenced. The time for speculation is over. The truth will now be seen and heard.'
Reid announces one-man show
Reid has previously said he felt 'humiliated' by some of Price’s comments about their relationship, while the pair have continued to exchange barbs in the years since. The latest remarks also come just days after Reid announced he planned to reveal more about his ex-wife in a one-man show tour. In a video posted online, the 51-year-old said: 'Katie thinks she’s 'got nothing to hide',' Alex began, referencing her new documentary Katie Price: Nothing to Hide. 'Hmm, really? There’s more than a few question I could ask [her],' he continued.
'She’ll always be a part of my story and I genuinely wish her well. But this evening isn’t about dragging up old relationships or celebrity gossip,' Alex said. 'People can Google the headlines. They can Google the photos, but they can’t Google what was going on inside my head.' Alex continued: 'I fought in the cage, I fought in the media. I fought battles in my own mind and those were the hardest ones.'
The theatre show is titled Alex Reid Speaks Out! His Story, His Truth, with VIP tickets selling for £43. He concluded by saying: 'I will answer questions about Katie, of course. Nothing is off limit, but if you want to hear stories you’ve never heard before and more importantly, what I learnt from them do come down.'
