Junior and Princess Andre have been told they cannot appear on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! because they are already set to feature in Celebrity Race Across the World, according to a report. The siblings, aged 21 and 19, are the children of Peter Andre and Katie Price, who met on the ITV reality show in 2004.
Dream of following parents' footsteps thwarted
The pair had reportedly hoped to take part in the upcoming spin-off, I'm A Celebrity: Wild Frontier, which involves teams of two. However, show bosses decided against casting them due to their participation in the yet-to-air Celebrity Race Across the World, which has a similar format.
A source told The Sun: 'Princess and Junior have always wanted to do I'm A Celeb, after all it's where their parents met so it would be a sweet full-circle moment. When they found out ITV were planning a spin off with teams of two, their management team put the feelers out to the people who cast the show.'
Conflict of interest between two shows
The source added: 'The team at I'm a Celeb felt that the two series are too similar, especially as this spin-off revolves around celebs competing in pairs – much like RATW. The other issue is that Race Across the World hasn't even aired yet, and they could potentially air very close together. The last thing ITV bosses want is to look like they are following other series.'
Junior and Princess are said to be 'gutted' by the decision. The mole continued: 'The spin-off would have been the perfect show for them, as it's going back to the roots of how their parents met, but also not a retread of the jungle, so a bit different.'
Past ambitions and future hopes
In 2022, Princess told Metro at the Pride of Britain Awards: 'That's something I really want to do.' Junior added: 'I think we have to do that! To represent. We came from the jungle, didn't we?' Princess agreed: 'It would actually be good to go on there, knowing both our parents were on there; that's how they met.'
The door might be closed for now, but they haven't given up hope. 'They are hoping there might be another opportunity in the future, but for now it's a definite no,' the source said.
Celebrity Race Across the World debut
Of their upcoming appearance on Celebrity Race Across the World, an insider told The Sun: 'Princess and Junior have proven themselves to be well-mannered, hardworking kids. Opportunities continue to come their way. Execs were impressed with the ratings for The Princess Diaries, but also how they came across. They're brilliant signings for Celeb Race as they bring with them a younger audience.'
This comes after Junior and Princess appeared on their mother's documentary series, Kate Price: Nothing to Hide, where they broke down in tears recalling Katie's historic drug use.
I'm A Celebrity: Wild Frontier cast
The spin-off, I'm A Celebrity: Wild Frontier, will consist of teams of two. The Sun previously reported that Irish boyband members Brian McFadden (Westlife) and Keith Duffy (Boyzone) have already been signed. A source said: 'Bosses are delighted that Keith and Brian will be taking part; they'll each bring a lot of fun and mischief to the camp.'
Metro has reached out to Junior Andre, Princess Andre and ITV for comment.
