Fortnum & Mason launches world-first Disney Pooh honey

Fortnum & Mason has launched the world's first official Disney Winnie the Pooh honey, created to celebrate the beloved character's 100th anniversary. The department store partnered with Disney to produce the '100 Aker Wood Hunny' using beehives placed in Ashdown Forest, East Sussex, the real-life inspiration for the Hundred Acre Wood.

Honey production and flavors

The honey was harvested from beehives in Friends Field, where bees gathered nectar from surrounding woodland and diverse flora through a sustainable, slow beekeeping process. Two seasonal yields were produced: Spring and Summer. The Spring honey features floral notes of bluebell, hawthorn, and gorse, while the Summer honey offers a more traditional flavor with hints of lime blossom and menthol. Fortnum's describes the honey as 'golden and gloriously sweet,' suitable for drizzling, spreading on toast, or eating straight from the jar.

The honey comes in glass jars priced at £12.95 each. A special edition of the Spring honey, creamed and presented in a keepsake ceramic pot, is available for £50.

Anniversary collection details

In addition to the honey, Fortnum & Mason has released a wider Winnie the Pooh centenary collection. Items include Winnie the Pooh and Friends Iced Biscuits (£32.95), a Winnie the Pooh and Piglet's Hunny Truffle Selection (£48) featuring five chocolate truffles made with Fortnum's honey, and a honey pot-shaped hamper filled with goodies (£170). Homeware offerings include a mug (£24.95) and a limited-edition 100 Aker Wood Tea Towel (£15.95) featuring a map of the Hundred Acre Wood, including Fortnum's beehive.

A bespoke Fortnum & Mason x Disney Pooh Bear cuddly toy with a blue Fortnum's bow is also available. The store's Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon will serve a special Winnie the Pooh-themed afternoon tea, which online fans have described as 'beyond adorable' and 'absolutely gorgeous.'

Availability and impact

The collection will be available in-store and online from July 16. According to a Metro reporter who tasted the honey, the Spring variety is 'unlike any other honey I've ever tried' with a unique, slightly floral flavor. The anniversary marks 100 years since the publication of A.A. Milne's original Winnie the Pooh book.
