London's transport network faces significant planned disruption on September 19-20 2026, with six lines affected by closures or service changes. The District, Piccadilly, DLR, Weaver, Lioness, and Windrush lines will all see cancellations, according to Transport for London (TfL) information compiled by Time Out.
District and Piccadilly Lines Hit by Weekend Works
On Saturday September 19 and Sunday September 20, no trains will run between Earl's Court and Ealing Broadway or Richmond on the District line. Passengers are advised to use Mildmay line services as an alternative. Additionally, westbound trains will not call at Barons Court until late 2026, meaning travellers from that station must go one stop east to West Kensington and change trains for westbound services.
The Piccadilly line will see even longer disruption. From 1:30am on Saturday September 19 and all day Sunday September 20, including Night Tube services, no trains will operate between Hyde Park Corner and Acton Town. Westbound trains will also skip Barons Court until the end of the year, with passengers directed to travel one stop east to Earl's Court and change trains there.
DLR and Overground Closures
The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will have no service between Bank or Tower Gateway and Lewisham or Canning Town on both days. There will also be no trains between Stratford and Canary Wharf throughout the weekend.
On the Weaver line, no trains will run between Hackney Downs and Cheshunt or Enfield Town on Saturday and Sunday. The Lioness line will be suspended between Willesden Junction and Watford Junction until 4:15pm on Sunday September 20.
Windrush Line and Waterloo & City
The Windrush line will see no trains between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction after 11:30pm on Saturday September 19. Meanwhile, the Waterloo and City line remains closed on weekends and bank holidays, as is standard practice, though TfL has previously suggested this could change.
These closures come during a busy weekend for London events, including Frieze Sculpture, Oktoberfest celebrations, and the HowTheLightGetsIn festival. Travellers attending these events are advised to check TfL's website or apps before setting out, as weekend engineering works can sometimes be extended or altered at short notice.
