Londoners could be waking up to frosty scenes later this month as forecasters predict a cold snap is heading for the capital.
When and Where Snow Could Fall
According to data from WXCharts, a weather mapping service that uses blue and purple tones to indicate snowfall, the capital might see light flurries next weekend. The icy conditions are currently forecast to arrive on Friday, November 21.
The potential snowfall is expected to primarily affect northern parts of London. The north-east of the city is projected to feel the arctic blast most strongly, with other northern areas also having a chance of seeing some wintry weather.
Met Office Supports Colder Outlook
This specific forecast aligns with a broader warning from the Met Office. The UK's national meteorological service has indicated that the country could experience a colder spell towards the end of November.
In its long-range forecast for the period of November 16 to November 25, the Met Office stated: "Central and northern parts of the UK will likely be in a colder but drier regime than of late with overnight frost, and some showers near windward coasts in particular which may be wintry on high ground in the north."
It added that while the south may be cloudier and wetter initially, it is "most likely that the bulk of the UK will experience drier and colder conditions into the first part of next week."
What to Expect
As winter tightens its grip, temperatures across London have already begun to drop. Residents are advised to prepare for the possibility of frosty mornings and significantly colder conditions as we move through the second half of the month. While significant snow accumulation is not currently predicted, even light flurries can lead to tricky travel conditions, so it's wise to stay updated with the latest forecasts.
