The team-based padel competition, the Hexagon Cup, is set for a major global expansion following a significant new partnership. Backed by sporting icons including Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal, the event will evolve into the Hexagon World Series, a worldwide circuit set to launch in the coming years.
Strategic Partnership with LIV Golf Creators
The expansion is a collaboration with 54, the influential sports agency renowned for creating the breakaway LIV Golf tour. The group has invested in the series and will play a key role in its delivery. This move follows 54's recent acquisition of the organiser of Polo In The Park, signalling its intent to replicate similar global rollouts for niche sports.
"This partnership marks a new chapter in the history of padel," stated Hexagon Cup founder Enrique Buenaventura. He emphasised that, together with 54, the International Padel Federation (FIP), and Premier Padel, they aim to build "the first truly global team circuit."
Boosting Padel's Global and Olympic Profile
The new Hexagon World Series will feature multiple international events each year. It will operate under the governance of the FIP and align with the elite Premier Padel circuit and the Cupra FIP Tour. Further details of the series are scheduled for announcement in 2026.
A key ambition behind the expansion is to strengthen padel's case for future inclusion in the Olympic Games. Luigi Carraro, President of the FIP, said the series would "enhance, consolidate and stabilise our ecosystem with the most prestigious competitions in the sport."
From Celebrity-Backed Start-Up to World Series
The original Hexagon Cup launched in 2023 with teams co-owned by a roster of celebrities. Alongside Murray and Nadal, investors included footballer Sergio Agüero, Hollywood star Eva Longoria, and Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly. Its third edition is due to be held in Madrid next month.
The transformation into a world series coincides with the closing of an investment round. Backers include not only 54 but also UK operator Padel Hub and the athlete-focused Players Fund.
Gary Davidson, CEO of 54 Group, highlighted padel's rapid growth. "We see an incredible opportunity to help accelerate its professionalisation and global reach," he said, describing the Hexagon World Series as a "natural extension" of their mission to build exciting modern sports properties.
