Sea Lanes Canary Wharf: Opening Date Confirmed for Olympic-Sized Lido
Sea Lanes Canary Wharf Opening Date Confirmed

The opening date for a new freshwater lido in Canary Wharf has been confirmed for this summer. Sea Lanes Canary Wharf will open to Londoners on Friday, June 19, offering a 50-metre long and 12-metre wide pool with six lanes.

State-of-the-Art Wellness Venue

The state-of-the-art venue situated in the recently developed Eden Dock will also come equipped with two saunas that are entirely powered by renewable energy. To top the wellness experience off, you will be able to buy food and drink from the community clubhouse and make use of the wetsuit concierge service.

Floating Pool with Natural Water

Many Londoners may be wary about swimming directly in the River Thames, but fear not. The Olympic-sized pool floats on the dock so you will not actually be swimming in the river. Sea Lanes said it will be filled with naturally filtered freshwater that is cut off from the Thames, while water will be regularly tested to ensure it meets EU Bathing Standards.

Membership and Pricing

Swimmers will be able to buy a membership or simply visit via a pay-per-swim option.

Expansion from Brighton

Sea Lanes' expansion into London follows the roaring success of a similar site on Brighton beach, which opened in June 2023. That seaside spot offers the same swimming and sauna experience and has also become a hub for evening food and drink activity.

Joe McNulty, Director at Sea Lanes, said: "We are thrilled to bring a National Open Water Swimming Centre to the heart of Canary Wharf, offering Londoners a chance to swim in natural water. Sea Lanes Canary Wharf will be more than just a swimming pool – it will be an urban oasis for health and wellbeing, all set within the green and biodiverse waterfront of Eden Dock. We are excited to create a space where Londoners can connect with nature, their community, and themselves."
