In the unpredictable world of professional wrestling, performers are braced for almost anything, from career-altering injuries to hostile crowds. Yet for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Kyle Fletcher, one of his most vivid memories involves a far more personal and humiliating crisis that unfolded live in front of an audience.
The Nightmare Unfolds Mid-Match
Kyle Fletcher, now 26 and a global star for AEW, has exclusively shared the story of his most cringe-worthy moment in the ring. The incident took place several years ago, before the pandemic, during a tag team match for the independent promotion Beyond Wrestling. Fletcher, teaming with his Aussie Open partner Mark Davis, was facing the duo known as Violence Is Forever.
The trouble began backstage. Fletcher had consumed an energy drink but didn't get a chance to visit the toilet before the opening bell. The situation came to a head, quite literally, during a high-risk move. Attempting a Frog Splash onto Davis and an opponent to break up a pin, the impact went horribly wrong. "I took the entirety of the impact on my lower abdomen, and I instantly explosively pooped my pants," Fletcher recalled. His immediate concern? The practicalities of his wrestling attire. "I was wearing trunks, and I was so worried that some was gonna fall out!"
No Sympathy, Just the Show Must Go On
In a moment where most would hope for understanding, Fletcher found no respite from his tag partner. After rolling over in shock, he alerted Davis, saying, "Davis! Davis! I s**t myself!" The response was brutally pragmatic. "Shut up! Get up and do the next thing," Davis instructed. With no alternative, the pair had to complete the match. "I was just hoping and praying that no poo fell out of my trunks," Fletcher admitted. The relief was palpable when the final bell rang. "Luckily, we made it through the rest of the match, and I ran straight to the bathroom, took 'em off, straight in the bin!"
From Trash Bin to TNT Champion
Thankfully for Fletcher, his career trajectory has improved dramatically since that unfortunate night. He is now a established star in AEW, the premier competitor to WWE, and even held the prestigious TNT Championship. His journey took him from Australia to the UK and beyond, recently performing to packed houses in Cardiff and Manchester. He credits childhood inspiration from daredevils like Jeff Hardy for his passion. "This was where I always wanted to end up," he said of his AEW success. "It feels like where I was meant to be."
His life has been transformed in other ways too. While his tag team with Davis was derailed by the latter's injuries, Fletcher has flourished as a solo competitor. He also met his girlfriend, fellow AEW wrestler Skye Blue, finding a partner who shares his all-consuming passion for the business. "Every choice I make is based around becoming the best wrestler possible," he stated.
This shared career doesn't make watching each other perform any easier, however. Fletcher confessed he gets "way more nerve stricken" watching Skye wrestle, citing her being covered in blood during the brutal 'Blood and Guts' match as particularly hard to watch. The concern is mutual, with one of his high-risk moves becoming a point of contention. After he cracked his head and later landed painfully on a guardrail attempting moonsaults, Skye told him he could "never do a moonsault again."
Despite the risks and past embarrassments, Fletcher's ambition burns brighter than ever. With absolute sincerity, he declared his ultimate goal: "My big goal is to be the best professional wrestler ever of all time." He shows no signs of slowing down in this pursuit. Fans can next see him and AEW at the monumental All In London event at Wembley Stadium on August 30, 2026.
