Wimbledon 2026: Djokovic, Sabalenka, Sinner, Gauff, Osaka

Novak Djokovic, Aryna Sabalenka, Jannik Sinner, Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka all took to the court on day five of Wimbledon 2026, with mixed results. Djokovic cruised past his opponent in straight sets, while Sabalenka fought back from a set down to secure her place in the fourth round. Sinner, the second seed, also advanced with a commanding performance.

Djokovic Dominates

Novak Djokovic, seeking his eighth Wimbledon title, dispatched his opponent 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in just under two hours. The Serbian star showed no signs of the elbow issue that had troubled him in previous rounds, firing 12 aces and breaking serve five times. 'I felt great out there,' Djokovic said. 'The crowd was amazing, and I'm playing better each match.'

Sabalenka Survives Scare

Aryna Sabalenka, the world number one, rallied from a set down to beat a resilient opponent 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Belarusian struggled with her serve early, committing seven double faults, but regained composure to win in two hours and 15 minutes. 'I knew I had to stay aggressive,' Sabalenka said. 'She played well, but I found my rhythm.'

Sinner and Gauff Advance

Jannik Sinner, the 2025 champion, continued his title defence with a 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 victory over a qualifier. The Italian won 85% of his first-serve points and broke serve four times. Coco Gauff, the 2023 champion, also moved on, defeating a former top-10 player 6-2, 7-5. Gauff's athleticism and court coverage were key, as she saved all three break points she faced.

Osaka Ousted

Naomi Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam champion, was eliminated in three sets by a rising star, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Osaka, who had not played Wimbledon since 2024 due to injury, showed flashes of brilliance but was undone by 35 unforced errors. 'It's disappointing, but I'm proud of the fight,' Osaka said. 'I'll learn from this and come back stronger.'

What's Next

The fourth round will feature several blockbuster matchups, including Djokovic facing a young American and Sabalenka taking on a former champion. Sinner will meet a big-serving left-hander, while Gauff will face a fellow American. The tournament continues to build towards an exciting second week.
