Olise Masterclass Turns the Tide for Bayern
Bayern Munich produced a spectacular second-half performance to overturn a two-goal deficit and secure a dominant 6-2 victory against Freiburg at the Allianz Arena. The match was defined by an extraordinary individual display from Michael Olise, who was directly involved in five of Bayern's six goals.
Freiburg's Early Surge
The Bundesliga champions found themselves in an unfamiliar position after just 17 minutes, conceding twice from set-pieces. The visitors took the lead in the 12th minute when Yuito Suzuki finished from close range following a cleverly worked corner. Their advantage was doubled just five minutes later as Johan Manzambi rose unmarked at the far post to head past Manuel Neuer.
This early setback for Bayern came after their impressive 16-match winning streak across all competitions was halted by a 2-2 draw with Union Berlin before the international break.
The Remarkable Comeback
Bayern's response was immediate and emphatic. The comeback began in the 21st minute when Lennart Karl found the net with a fine finish, assisted by Olise. The French international then turned from provider to scorer, levelling the match with a powerful strike in first-half stoppage time.
After the break, Bayern completed their turnaround in the 55th minute when Olise's corner found Dayot Upamecano at the far post, who volleyed home. Just five minutes later, Harry Kane extended the lead with his 14th league goal of the season.
The onslaught continued as Olise set up Nicolas Jackson in the 78th minute before capping his magnificent performance by curling a stunning shot into the top corner for Bayern's sixth and final goal.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga
In another thrilling Bundesliga encounter, Borussia Dortmund were held to a 3-3 draw by Stuttgart despite having taken a two-goal lead. Deniz Undav was the hero for Stuttgart, completing his hat-trick with a last-gasp equaliser in stoppage time after Karim Adeyemi had put Dortmund ahead in the 89th minute.
The result leaves Dortmund in third place with 22 points, one behind second-placed Bayer Leverkusen. Bayern Munich lead the title race with 31 points from their unbeaten start to the campaign.
Barcelona's Camp Nou Return
In Spain, Barcelona marked their long-awaited return to the rebuilt Camp Nou with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao. Playing at their home ground for the first time in 909 days following its redevelopment, Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the fourth minute before Ferran Torres added a second just before half-time.
Fermin Lopez extended Barcelona's lead three minutes into the second half, and Torres completed the scoring with his second goal late in the match. The victory takes Barcelona to the top of La Liga with 31 points, level with Real Madrid.
Both Bayern Munich and Barcelona now turn their attention to crucial Champions League fixtures, with Bayern travelling to face Arsenal on Wednesday and Dortmund hosting Villarreal on Tuesday.
