Midtjylland midfielder Alamara Djabi is in a stable condition after being stabbed and seriously injured in a weekend incident in Herning, Denmark, the Danish Superliga club confirmed on Tuesday. The 19-year-old footballer, who joined Midtjylland in 2023 after coming through the prestigious Benfica academy, was attacked in the central Danish town where the club is based.

According to an official statement from FC Midtjylland, Djabi was initially in critical condition following the stabbing and required emergency surgery. The club revealed he has since undergone another operation and his condition has improved to stable thanks to what they described as "the professional efforts of the emergency responders and later the hospital staff."
"He has awakened from an induced coma and is doing well under the circumstances," the club stated, adding that they are providing support to Djabi and his family while cooperating with authorities investigating the incident.

The young midfielder has made two senior appearances for Midtjylland since joining the club last year. As a product of Benfica's renowned youth academy, Djabi was considered a promising talent in Danish football. His injury comes as Midtjylland sit second in Group A of the Danish Superliga, just two points behind leaders AGF. The club last won the Superliga title in 2024.
