Transfer Rumours: Salah to Roma? Liverpool Eye £43m Defender
January Transfer Rumours: Salah, Liverpool, Man Utd

The January transfer window is open, and the rumour mill is already spinning at full speed, with some of the Premier League's biggest names at the centre of speculation. From potential blockbuster returns to major squad rebuilds, the gossip columns are providing plenty of fodder for fans.

Anfield Exodus and Arrivals?

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is set to dominate the headlines, with reports from Italy suggesting a sensational return to AS Roma could be on the cards. According to La Repubblica, the Serie A club is keen to bring the Egyptian star back to the Stadio Olimpico, where he played between 2015 and 2017. However, any move is more likely to materialise in the summer rather than this month.

If Salah remains at Anfield, he could be joined by a new defensive teammate. Liverpool are reportedly ready to shell out an initial £35m for Club Brugge's Ecuadorian centre-back Joel Ordóñez, a fee that could eventually rise to £43m. The Premier League champions' pursuit has been simplified after Chelsea reportedly withdrew their interest in the player.

Premier League Clubs Circle Midfield Talent

England midfielder Conor Gallagher, who has found starts hard to come by at Atlético Madrid this season, is attracting attention from back home. Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in reviving their midfield with the energetic 25-year-old. Atlético will demand at least £26m for a player whose contract runs until 2029.

Meanwhile, there are growing whispers that United could offload captain Bruno Fernandes to fund a significant squad overhaul. The Portugal international previously revealed the club was willing to sell him last summer, and that speculation is set to intensify. Potential replacements being eyed at Old Trafford include Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and Rennes defender Jérémy Jacquet.

Other Moves Across the League

Arsenal are considering a bold move for Real Madrid's talented 20-year-old playmaker, Arda Güler. The league leaders are reportedly weighing up an initial loan deal with an option to buy, though a permanent transfer would cost around £78m.

In East London, West Ham's search for attacking firepower could lead them to Gil Vicente's Pablo and a surprising move for Chelsea's out-of-favour winger Raheem Sterling. The Hammers are keen to bolster their squad in a bid to avoid relegation.

Elsewhere, Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jørgen Strand Larsen is a target for Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace, with his club valuing him at £40m. Fulham, Palace, and Sunderland are all interested in Paris FC's Algerian midfielder Ilan Kebbal, while Newcastle United are planning an approach for Toulouse's teenage defender Dayann Methalie.
