Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has sounded the alarm for his former club, warning that Manchester City are building dangerous momentum in the Premier League title race despite the Gunners' strong start to the season.
Gunners Lead But City Closing In
After eleven matches played, Mikel Arteta's Arsenal sit four points clear at the top of the table with an impressive eight victories to their name. However, the recent round of fixtures provided a significant shift in momentum as Manchester City delivered a statement performance while Arsenal stumbled.
The situation intensified when Manchester City dominated Liverpool with a convincing 3-0 victory, simultaneously capitalising on Arsenal's 2-2 draw against Sunderland that saw them drop precious points.
Henry's Tactical Analysis of City's Evolution
Speaking to Betway, Henry expressed his admiration for Pep Guardiola's tactical innovations this season. "Very impressed," Henry stated. "I never thought he would have allowed his wingers to come inside so early in the build-up like they do."
The French icon highlighted Guardiola's unexpected flexibility, noting: "I never thought he would allow his left winger to go on the right. That would never have happened with Pep in the past."
Henry identified Jeremy Doku as the established choice on the left flank, while the right side features rotation between Rayan Cherki and Savinho. The return to form of Phil Foden adds another dimension, though Henry believes the Englishman excels most in the number ten role on the right.
The Title Race Heats Up
Henry delivered a sobering assessment for Arsenal supporters, emphasising Manchester City's championship pedigree. "If you're an Arsenal fan, that's exactly the team that you don't want on your shoulder, because they know how to win," he cautioned.
The Arsenal legend observed City's growing threat, noting: "It's not great as an Arsenal man to see them coming back to their level. They look like a team about to go on a run."
Henry acknowledged that City's early adjustment period, including integrating new assistants and implementing a revised playing style, allowed Arsenal to establish their lead. However, he emphasised that the title battle was "always going to be a battle."
Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke delivered an even starker prediction, suggesting Arsenal will falter in their title pursuit. "I just think Arsenal will do what Arsenal do again," Yorke told Snabbare. "I have a funny feeling that somehow they won't get it over the line."
Yorke pointed to Manchester City's experience as the decisive factor, stating: "I think Man City just have that know-how." As the Premier League season progresses, Arsenal's ability to withstand City's charge will define their championship credentials.
