Hargreaves Lauds 'Exceptional' Mbeumo After Stunning Start

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has delivered a stunning comparison, likening current Red Devils star Bryan Mbeumo to Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah. The praise comes after Mbeumo's impressive start to life at Old Trafford following his £65 million summer transfer from Brentford.

Salah-Level Calm in Front of Goal

Hargreaves was effusive in his analysis, pinpointing the Cameroon international's composure in the penalty area as a trait he shares with the Egyptian king. "He reminds me of Mohamed Salah in and around the box," Hargreaves stated. "When he gets the ball, he has a clear picture of exactly what he wants to do. Whether the finish is near post or back post, he almost shows no emotion. It’s just business in and around the box, and I love that."

He further emphasised that Mbeumo's technical ability is often overlooked, describing the 26-year-old as an "exceptional football player" who has adapted seamlessly to the pressure of playing for a club of United's stature.

From Doubts to Acclaim at the Theatre of Dreams

Mbeumo's performances have swiftly silenced any pre-transfer scepticism. Club legend Wayne Rooney, who initially had reservations about the signing, has now hailed him as United's 'best player this season'. The forward is on course to replicate his career-best haul of 20 goals from last season, having already netted five times this campaign.

His contributions have been vital in propelling Ruben Amorim's side back into the top-four conversation after a dismal 2024-25 season. Former United striker Dwight Yorke also admitted his surprise, noting that Mbeumo is "playing at another level since coming to United."

However, Yorke expressed that fellow summer signing Matheus Cunha, who arrived from Wolves for £62.5 million, has yet to find his best form, having scored only once. Manchester United, currently seventh in the Premier League, resume their campaign on Monday night against Everton.
