EastEnders' Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is set for a new love story with unexpected newcomer Clive Masters, a Walford councillor played by Jason Durr. The character, known to Casualty fans as David Hide, arrives as the community centre faces closure.
Linda's recent romantic struggles
Linda has endured a series of romantic setbacks. Her true love Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) was lost in 2022 due to Janine Butcher's scheming, and recent love interest Max Branning (Jake Wood) chose Cindy Beale over her. A brief fling with Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) offered little lasting comfort.
Clive Masters arrives in Walford
Clive takes over as local councillor from the disgraced Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) after his drink-driving charge. He appears on screen next week as the community centre faces closure. Linda, who relied on the centre in her recovery from alcoholism, fears its shutdown and seeks Ian's advice. Ian arranges a meeting between Linda and Clive, where immediate chemistry is evident.
Matchmaking and community rally
Linda rallies the women of Walford to discuss saving the centre, and Clive arrives at Peacock Palace to help. Linda's mother Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) notices the spark and decides to play matchmaker, despite her track record of interference. Jason Durr teased: 'Working with the wonderful Kellie has been an absolute joy and pleasure from day one. All the cast, crew and production staff have been incredibly generous, welcoming and good-humoured. I'm excited for audiences to meet Clive and see what's in store.'
