Romano stated on social media platform X that Brennan Johnson will complete the second part of his medical and sign his contract at Crystal Palace today. The deal is reported to be worth in the region of £35million, bringing the Wales international to Selhurst Park.
Johnson joins from Tottenham, who signed him from Nottingham Forest for nearly £50million in the summer of 2023. The 24-year-old notably scored the winning goal for Spurs in last season's Europa League final. His departure from North London comes as something of a surprise, given the club's search for consistent goalscoring options.
A 'Real Threat' for Glasner's European Push
For Crystal Palace and manager Oliver Glasner, Johnson represents a crucial January investment. The Eagles have endured a difficult patch, going six games without a win across all competitions, though they did stop a three-match losing streak with a New Year's Day draw against Fulham.
Despite this dip, the club remains firmly in the hunt for European qualification, sitting just three points adrift of the top six.
