Arteta Told to Loan Arsenal Starlet Nwaneri for Crucial Development

Arsenal Legend Backs Nwaneri Loan Move

Former Arsenal title-winner Lauren has publicly advised manager Mikel Arteta to allow teenage prodigy Ethan Nwaneri to depart on loan during the upcoming January transfer window. The ex-defender believes that securing regular first-team football is paramount for the 18-year-old's continued development.

Fierce Competition Limits Opportunities

Despite a breakthrough campaign last season where Nwaneri made 26 Premier League appearances and scored four goals, his playing time has drastically reduced this term. The summer acquisitions of Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke, combined with the consistent form of Leandro Trossard, have created a logjam in attacking positions. Consequently, Nwaneri is yet to start a single league game this season, even with Arsenal contending with several injuries.

This situation aligns with recent reports indicating that Arsenal would be open to a temporary loan deal for the second half of the season to ensure the talented teenager gets the minutes he needs.

Lauren's Verdict on Development and Defence

Speaking exclusively to Metro on behalf of GeckoPlay Casino, Lauren was unequivocal in his assessment. ‘First of all, youngsters have to play to be able to develop and improve his qualities,’ he stated. ‘We know about his qualities. A young player needs to play if he is to develop. At this moment of time, it’s very difficult for him to break into the team because there are so many top players now.’

Lauren emphasised that a loan spell should not be viewed negatively. ‘It’s not a bad idea to go on loan and then to play the games that you need to develop. Maybe he might come back. It’s not the end of the world. I believe it could be a good option for a youngster to move along and then come back later on.’

The injury news concerning defender Gabriel Magalhaes was also addressed by Lauren, who described it as a ‘big worry’ for the Gunners. The Brazilian centre-back, who suffered an injury while on international duty with Brazil, could reportedly be sidelined until the New Year. Lauren praised the ‘outstanding’ understanding and connection between Gabriel and William Saliba, highlighting their combined technical ability and aggression.

With a crucial run of fixtures against Tottenham, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea on the horizon, summer signing Cristhian Mosquera is expected to step in. Lauren expressed full confidence in the young Spaniard, having analysed him during his time at Valencia. ‘Mosquera is a top player... His first game of the season at Anfield, he didn’t know the Premier League. He was confident with the ball... So we’ve got a good replacement,’ Lauren concluded.
