Television Presenter's Husband Faces Medical Emergency During Filming

Jon Boast, the 45-year-old husband of A Place In The Sun presenter Jasmine Harman, experienced a frightening medical crisis while filming their Channel 4 property programme. The incident occurred during production of Jasmine Harman's Renovation In The Sun, where the couple were transforming a dilapidated 1980s villa in Estepona, Spain into their family home.

The Day Everything Changed

While working alongside builders at the Spanish property, Boast began suffering persistent chest pains that quickly escalated into a serious health situation. Paramedics were called to the scene and transported him directly to hospital for emergency treatment. The dramatic events unfolded in front of Channel 4 cameras, with Harman later confessing her immediate fear that her husband was having a heart attack.

The 50-year-old presenter had particular reason for concern given her family's tragic medical history. Her sister-in-law Jo died suddenly at just 40 years old in 2016 from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome, caused by cardiac arrest. This personal loss made the situation even more terrifying for Harman, who had also recently experienced the heartbreak of losing her friend and fellow A Place In The Sun presenter Jonnie Irwin to cancer in 2024.

Recovery and Reflection

From his hospital bed, Boast later confirmed to Channel 4 viewers that he had indeed suffered what doctors described as a 'mild' heart attack. Speaking to The Mirror about the health scare, Harman revealed that her husband is now doing well but requires ongoing medical attention.

'With Jon's family history, he'd already been having regular screenings,' Harman explained. 'Now they are doing more investigations and keeping an eye on him. He's on medication and they will continue to do regular monitoring.'

The television personality expressed profound gratitude for her husband's recovery, despite the terrifying circumstances. 'I know this sounds strange but even with the background of what could have happened and worrying he could have died, it makes you feel lucky he just had a mild heart attack and everything is fine.'

The heart attack came shortly after Boast had broken his left leg playing padel, subsequently developing thrombosis as a complication from the injury. Reflecting on managing both health crises simultaneously, Harman admitted she's unsure how she coped with everything.

The challenging experience has fundamentally changed Harman's perspective on life. She revealed that facing these difficulties during their renovation project has made her less of a 'control freak' and taught her to appreciate what truly matters. 'The challenges life throws at you have made me take things in my stride a lot better than I used to,' she shared.

Jasmine Harman's Renovation In The Sun continues to air weekdays at 5pm on Channel 4, with all episodes available for streaming on the network's platform.
