Tom Kim ends 1,001-day drought with Scottish Open win

Tom Kim produced a bogey-free final round to win the Scottish Open on Sunday, ending a 1,001-day drought since his last title. The 24-year-old South Korean shot a 64 to finish two shots clear of Min Woo Lee, securing his first Rolex Series victory and his fourth PGA Tour title.

Kim's commanding performance

Kim birdied three times on the front nine and added three more birdies on the back nine, including a crucial birdie on the 16th that gave him a two-shot lead heading into the final two holes. A simple par putt on the 18th sealed the win. Kim finished four shots ahead of England's Matt Fitzpatrick and Scotland's Robert MacIntyre, who shared the lead entering the final day but both shot one-under 69. Johnny Keefer and Keita Nakajima also tied for third.

Emotional victory after tough years

Speaking on Sky Sports, Kim said: 'This one is up there. I played probably as good as I could have with the pressure and executed when I needed to. I'm very proud for being calm out there. This is awesome. There were a lot of key moments. I am trying to get better each day. I've had a tough couple of years and I got to taste a lot of humble pie and learn about myself. I've still got a long way to go but I wanted to dedicate this to the people in my corner all the time. To all those people I'd like to say thank you.'

McIlroy's strong finish

Rory McIlroy showed positive form ahead of the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, carding five birdies in his first seven holes en route to a 64, matching his lowest round of the season. He finished tied for seventh with Michael Thorbjornsen.

Lee's satisfaction

Min Woo Lee, who missed a birdie putt on the 17th that effectively handed Kim the title, remained upbeat. 'I'm just happy with the week and obviously a win would have been nice,' he said. 'But it was one of the first weeks that I was just happy with myself mentally.'
