Daisy the border collie: failed sheepdog to yoga and modelling star

Daisy, a border collie who was deemed unfit for farm work, has found a new calling as a model and yoga companion in Nottingham. Her owner, Fiona Pearson, adopted her from Ireland in 2023 after learning she wasn't suited to herding sheep.

From farm failure to beloved pet

Pearson and her husband traveled from Nottingham to meet Daisy, who was originally a working sheepdog in Ireland. It was immediately clear that Daisy preferred affection over labor. 'She was really affectionate and I could tell that she loved being around people,' Pearson said. Unlike typical border collies known for hyperactivity, Daisy is content to cuddle and relax.

A striking appearance and modeling debut

Daisy has one blue eye and one brown eye, with black, white, and caramel fur. In March 2024, she modeled at a life-drawing class in a local coffee shop. 'Daisy loved it. She was quite giddy, as usual,' Pearson recalled. The class rotated models every 15 minutes, and Pearson saw the drawings afterward. Daisy also joined Pearson's yoga classes, where clients now request her presence. 'I think they are more interested in her than me,' Pearson joked.

Honored at her owners' wedding

When Pearson married her husband in Ireland that same month, Daisy stayed home due to travel concerns. However, she was included in the celebration through glow sticks printed with her photo and coasters featuring her image. 'All our friends and family know how important Daisy is to us and we had to honour her on our big day,' Pearson said.

Adapting to city life

Despite initial concerns about transitioning from a rural farm to urban Nottingham, Daisy has adapted seamlessly. 'I can't imagine life without Daisy now. We are very attached to each other and she brings so much joy to our lives,' Pearson added. Daisy now accompanies Pearson everywhere, from nail appointments to sunset views in the Peak District.
