The Wolseley Hospitality Group, renowned for its upscale dining establishments, is venturing into the hospitality sector by opening its first London hotel. The five-star WestDill Mayfair Hotel will be housed in a former bank and office building in the heart of the West End.
Prime Location and Historic Building
The hotel occupies a Grade II listed building on the corner of Piccadilly and Albemarle Street, designed in the 1920s by architect and lawyer Sir William Curtis Green. Green also designed The Dorchester and the building that houses the flagship Wolseley restaurant, located just across the road. The property, a two-minute walk from Green Park tube station, previously served as a NatWest bank and offices.
Luxurious Accommodations and Amenities
The WestDill Mayfair Hotel will feature six floors of glamorous suites and 50 guest rooms. The hotel is set to open before the end of the year, debuting a restaurant and bar alongside the accommodations. While details on the food and drink offerings have not yet been announced, anticipation is high, particularly regarding the former bank vault's transformation.
Bobby Hiranandani, co-chair of Royal Group of Companies, which owns The Wolseley as well as other restaurants including The Delaunay, Colbert, and Zedel, stated that the new hotel will contribute to 'the continued renaissance of Mayfair and the wider West End'.
A Legacy of Transformation
The Wolseley's original Piccadilly restaurant opened in 2003 in a former 1920s marble car showroom. Its second site, The Wolseley City, launched two decades later in the former Monument branch of House of Fraser. This new hotel project continues the group's tradition of repurposing historic buildings into luxury destinations.
