Bloomsbury, the historic central London neighbourhood known for its intellectual heritage and cultural landmarks, is finally getting its first rooftop bar. When Arcus opens this summer at the Imperial Hotel, it will mark the area's debut al fresco rooftop venue, offering near-360-degree views of the city skyline.
A New Addition to Bloomsbury's Landscape
Despite being home to institutions like UCL, the British Museum, and luminaries such as Virginia Woolf and Charles Dickens, Bloomsbury has never had a rooftop bar. That changes with the launch of Arcus, which will occupy a 327-square-metre space on the roof of the Imperial Hotel at 61-66 Russell Square. The venue will seat 330 guests, making it one of the larger rooftop spots in London.
Views and Atmosphere
Arcus will offer panoramic views stretching from St Paul's Cathedral to the London Eye, overlooking Russell Square and the surrounding art deco architecture. The space will feature high tables and cosy lounge areas, open to both hotel guests and the public. Live music and late-night DJ sessions are planned, along with wellness activities like early morning sound baths and sun salutations.
Food and Drink Offerings
The menu will start with brunch and transition to small plates and cocktails as the sun sets. The exact opening date has not been announced, but it is expected to open sometime this summer.
This new venue fills a gap in Bloomsbury's hospitality scene, offering a unique vantage point to enjoy the neighbourhood's charm and the broader London skyline.
