Shona Attacked in Coronation Street as Jodie Seeks Revenge

It was only a matter of time before Jodie Ramsey's (Olivia Frances-Brown) shady past caught up with her. Now, the trouble she has brought to the Platts' doorstep has resulted in Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) paying the price. Jodie has been a terrible house guest ever since she moved into Number 8 Coronation Street, constantly trying to turn her sister Shona's family against her. Whether attempting to seduce Shona's husband David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) or poisoning the mind of her daughter Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner), the boiling-over baddie has been relentlessly targeting Shona due to a vendetta stemming from their troubled upbringing.

When teenage mother Shona abandoned their family home to escape their abusive father and enabling mother, Jodie was left trapped in the toxic household. Determined to steal her sister's loving family because she never had one of her own, Jodie has been scheming and plotting. Her mystery box filled with stolen trinkets kept viewers guessing: she sneaked into Bernie Winter's (Jane Hazlegrove) house to cut Bernie's face out of wedding pictures, stole a book from Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) and a police badge from Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) just to scare a child into handing over an iPad. With all the chaos Jodie has caused, it is a miracle no one has bumped her off.

Coronation Street's whodunnit murder mystery is approaching, and Jodie is one of five Weatherfield villains who might be for the chop. This week, the devious villain was confronted by an unwelcome face from her past: Olivia, one of the children Jodie used to look after as a nanny. Olivia caught Jodie red-handed ransacking her belongings, searching for a mysterious hard drive belonging to her father—something already seen in Jodie's trinket box. After Jodie kicked her out, Olivia reported back to a couple of heavies sitting in a fancy car, admitting she failed to find the hard drive. The thugs vowed to do whatever Olivia's dad deemed necessary to retrieve it.

Jodie's employer is clearly a dangerous man. Given that she escaped from the back of a van belonging to Emmerdale's baddest butler, Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough), it is plausible that Olivia's dad could be the mysterious client whose contract Graham cancelled. If so, Jodie is in grave danger. A shaky Jodie led Shona to believe that Olivia's dad is a violent ex-boyfriend, explaining she stole the hard drive from him and he wants her dead. Sick with dread, Shona pointed out that now Olivia knows where she lives, her dad could show up anytime. She pleaded with her sister to leave Weatherfield immediately before it is too late.

In next week's episodes, Jodie's plans to flee are scuppered when her past catches up with her, prompting a bombshell secret to drop. As Jodie prepares to leave, she hears Shona screaming and rushes outside to find her sister being assaulted by two men. In a refreshing change of pace, Jodie does the right thing and gives the thugs the hard drive in return for sparing her sister. Devastated by the aftermath, Jodie is comforted by Shona, who asks her to stay. But then Jodie finds a letter—the letter she sent Shona as a child, which Shona claimed she never received. This letter is proof that Shona deliberately chose not to keep contact with her sister. The betrayal fills Jodie with rage, prompting her to undertake her most reckless, diabolical action yet.
