Rotherham Rapist Sageer Hussain Gets 3 More Years for Teen Attack
Rotherham rapist handed further three-year sentence

A man already imprisoned for a horrific campaign of rape in Rotherham has been given a further prison term for attacking another vulnerable teenager.

Overlapping Prison Sentences

Sageer Hussain, 40, was handed a new three-year sentence at Sheffield Crown Court for a rape he committed approximately 25 years ago. This sentence will run concurrently with the substantial term he is already serving.

Hussain was originally jailed for 19 years in 2016 after subjecting a 13-year-old girl to a campaign of violent rape. The latest conviction relates to a separate incident where he targeted another 13-year-old girl between July 2000 and July 2002.

Details of the Historic Attack

The court heard how Hussain, who was about two years older than his victim, led the young teenager down an alleyway in Rotherham town centre. He then told her he would not let her leave unless she had sex with him.

Prosecutors described how the rape was carried out with two other people present, one male and one female, who blocked the girl's exit. The victim, who is now in her 30s, cried throughout the entire ordeal.

Judge Charles Thomas, who presided over the case, noted the vulnerability of the complainant. He stated, ‘The sad fact of this case is that, despite her young age at the time, you were not the first man to have abused and exploited (the complainant) in this area and around this time.’

Courtroom Proceedings and Sentencing

The new three-year sentence was imposed on Tuesday. Judge Thomas confirmed that the term would begin immediately, overlapping with the end of the custodial element of his existing 19-year sentence.

The victim attended court to see Hussain sentenced and was commended by Judge Thomas for her conduct throughout the legal proceedings. This case highlights the continued efforts to bring perpetrators of historic child sexual exploitation in Rotherham to justice.
