New Batman Game Confirmed But Not Batman Beyond, Insider Reveals
New Batman Game Confirmed But Not Batman Beyond

Rocksteady Studios is indeed working on a new Batman game, but it has nothing to do with Batman Beyond, according to insider Michael Beckwith. Despite persistent rumors and alleged leaks, the project remains shrouded in mystery, with no official details confirmed.

No Batman Beyond Game

Fans hoping for a Batman Beyond adaptation were disappointed after Bloomberg's Jason Schreier dismissed a recent leak as fake. The leak, which originated from 4chan, claimed Rocksteady was developing an Arkham-style game set in the Batman Beyond universe, complete with screenshots of an unfinished city and combat footage. However, Schreier succinctly called it 'Faaaaaake,' suggesting the images were likely AI-generated.

The rumor included tantalizing details such as Paul Dini, an original Batman Beyond writer, penning the story, and the inclusion of the Nemesis system from the Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor games. It also claimed the game would retcon the events of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a move many fans desired. But these details proved too good to be true.

Rocksteady's Uncertain Future

Schreier reported last year that Rocksteady is making a new single-player Batman game following the failure of Suicide Squad. However, no further details have emerged, and the project may still be in early development. The studio's future is further complicated by Warner Bros.' pending sale to Paramount, which could impact the gaming division. If the deal goes through, Rocksteady might be shut down if video games are not a priority for the new owners. Alternatively, if the deal falls through, Warner Bros. may cut costs, endangering the studio.

In the meantime, fans can enjoy Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which offers a refreshing take on the Lego formula and serves as a temporary stand-in for Rocksteady's Arkham games. But the wait for a true successor continues.
