A woman and a child have tragically died after being pulled from the water at a park in west London. The pair, believed to be a mother and her son, were recovered from the water at Elthorne Park in Ealing following emergency calls made shortly before 4:30pm on Saturday.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services and members of the public, both were pronounced dead at the scene. The Metropolitan Police are working to notify the next of kin, but have not yet released their ages.

Police Statement

Detective Superintendent Pete Thackray, from the Metropolitan Police's West Area Command Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident in which a woman and her young child have lost their lives. Our thoughts are with their loved ones."
