Two Metropolitan Police officers have been charged with assaulting a man they arrested during a vehicle stop in West London. The charges follow an incident in which the man was taken to hospital.
Officers charged with assault
PC Jason Mugg, 30, and former PC Darren Boast, 40, are accused of using 'unnecessary and disproportionate force' in the 2023 incident. Both were charged with assault causing actual bodily harm on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, following an investigation by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
The charges relate to an incident on August 14, 2023, when a 34-year-old man was pulled over in Carlyle Avenue, Southall. The man had to be taken to hospital after the arrest.
Court appearance and bail
The officers appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 16, 2026, and were bailed to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on Wednesday, October 14.
PC Mugg is attached to the West Area Command Unit. Former PC Boast was attached to the same unit at the time of the allegations.
Next steps
The case will proceed at Isleworth Crown Court, where the officers will face the charges. The investigation was conducted by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
