Human Skull Discovered Hanging from Tree in East London Woodland

A chilling discovery has been made in east London, where a human skull was found hanging from a tree in a wooded area. The Metropolitan Police were alerted to Brooke Wood, located off The Ridgeway in Enfield, after a council worker came across the remains on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

Extensive Recovery of Remains at the Scene

Following the initial discovery, officers conducted a thorough search of the area. They successfully located approximately 80% of the remaining bones, which were situated beneath the skull. Additionally, identification documents were found at the scene, providing potential clues to the individual's identity.

Preliminary estimates suggest the body had been in the woodland since September 2022, indicating the remains were present for nearly four years before being discovered. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated that officers were called around 12:00 hours on Tuesday and attended the location.

'Enquiries continue to establish the circumstances but the matter is not believed to be suspicious at this stage,' the spokesperson added, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the investigation.

Separate Appeal in Coventry for Unidentified Body

In a separate but similarly distressing case, police in Coventry are appealing to the public for help identifying a man whose body was found inside a wheelie bin in a park last month. The man, believed to be aged between 40 and 50, was discovered by a member of the public in Cash's Park off Daimler Road.

His identity remains unknown, but investigators have released details of distinctive tattoos in hopes of generating leads. The man has a tattoo on his back depicting a cross with a snake wrapped around it, accompanied by the words 'Little Stardust'. On his right arm, he has a tattoo saying 'nan' with a clover and the colors of the Irish flag.

DCI Phil Poole, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that a large team is working diligently on the case. 'We have a large team of detectives, forensic specialists and other staff working around the clock to establish what has happened to this man, who he is, and who is responsible,' he stated.

DCI Poole also noted that several pieces of information have been received following the public appeal and are being actively pursued. 'I really want to hear from anyone who recognises the descriptions of the tattoos on the man, as they are quite distinctive,' he urged.
