The Guardian has published a series of corrections and clarifications addressing factual errors that appeared in its recent reporting. The amendments cover a range of topics from a misidentified local authority to an incorrect gallery location and reversed quiz answers.
Council Error and Exhibition Venue Correction
In a significant correction, the newspaper addressed an error in an article published on 27 December 2025. The piece, titled 'The not-so good, the bad and the ugly of 2025', had criticised a London council for allegedly leaving a 91-year-old cancer patient in a property with damp, mould, and insects for a year. The article originally stated the council involved was Southwark. This was incorrect. The intended reference was to Wandsworth Council.
A separate correction was issued for the 'Going out & Staying In' section of the Saturday magazine on the same date. It wrongly stated that the 'Turner in January' exhibition was being held at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh. The exhibition is, in fact, taking place at its neighbour, the National Galleries of Scotland: National.
Quiz Answers and Other Amended Articles
The publication also corrected an error in its 'Where in the world...' travel quiz from 20 December. Two answers were inadvertently reversed. The correct answers should have been: 40 Uzbekistan and 41 Turkmenistan.
The corrections column also listed several other articles that have been recently amended. These include reports on:
- The discovery of a triathlete's body in California.
- Boxer Anthony Joshua's discharge from a Nigerian hospital.
- Former Australian cricketer Damien Martyn's health.
- A study on ethnic minorities' access to diabetes technology in England.
- Film reviews and features, including 'The best films of 2025' and a look ahead to 2026.
- Follow-up reporting on the Birmingham bin strike.
- Personal stories and science fiction book recommendations.
