Fulham Woman Found Dead Identified as Sophinia Bertrand

A woman discovered dead in Fulham has been formally identified as Sophinia Bertrand, 46. Emergency services were called to a residence on Tyrawley Road at approximately 1:10 AM on Thursday, April 30, where London Ambulance Service personnel found Bertrand with severe head injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arrest and Charges

Mehdi Madar, 45, who resides on the same street, was arrested at the location on suspicion of murder and subsequently taken into custody. According to the Metropolitan Police, Madar has been charged with murder. The charge was filed on Friday, May 1, and he appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, May 2. Authorities confirmed that the two individuals were known to each other.

Unrelated Incidents in Brixton

In a separate and unrelated series of events occurring on the same day, a drive-by shooting in Brixton left a 25-year-old man, Keanu Taylor, injured. The shooting took place near the Barrier Block of Coldharbour Lane at approximately 1:15 AM. Three other individuals, including a pensioner, were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Approximately one hour later, police responded to a call on Acre Lane, located near Coldharbour Lane, where they discovered a 33-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a hospital, and his injuries are now considered non-life-threatening.

Ongoing Investigations

No arrests have been made in connection with either the shooting or the stabbing. Detectives are investigating whether these two incidents may be linked. The Metropolitan Police continue to appeal for any witnesses or information that could assist in their inquiries.
