The Guardian has issued corrections for two errors in recent articles. The first correction involves former Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan. An article titled “Ghana’s heroes” (23 June, p43) incorrectly stated that Gyan missed his penalty during the 2010 World Cup quarter-final shootout with Uruguay. In fact, Gyan missed a penalty in the final minute of extra time, not during the shootout.
Isa deposit terminology corrected
The second correction pertains to an article about Individual Savings Accounts (Isas). The piece, “First-time buyer Isas to have no upper age limit, Treasury says” (24 June, p10), stated that savers can “hold” up to £20,000 a year in Isas. The correct term is “deposit,” as Isa contributions are deposits, not holdings.
Other recently amended articles include coverage of Mamdani-backed candidates in New York City Democratic primaries, a review of Benedict Cumberbatch’s climate crisis response, and a report on 400,000 UK children supported by baby banks—an 11% increase from the previous year. Additional corrections involve a reflecting pool drained after five vandalism arrests, Taiwan’s tallest trees, a first world war drama, and Keir Starmer’s economic legacy.
