Corrections and clarifications: June 15, 2026

The Guardian issues corrections and clarifications for errors published in previous articles. In a piece on June 14 about renewable energy, we incorrectly stated that solar panels generate more energy than wind turbines in the UK. In fact, wind power contributes more to the national grid. This has been corrected.

Correction: Renewable energy comparison

An article on June 14, 2026, titled 'Renewable energy sources compared' contained an error. It stated: 'Solar panels now generate more electricity than wind turbines in the UK.' This is inaccurate. According to the National Grid, wind power generated 28% of UK electricity in 2025, while solar contributed 4%. The error was due to a misinterpretation of data from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. We apologize for the mistake.

Clarification: London housing policy

A report on June 12 about London's housing policy may have given the impression that all new developments must include affordable housing. In fact, the policy applies only to developments of 10 or more homes. We have clarified this in the online version.

  • Correction: The article 'Museum expansion plans' (June 10) misstated the cost of the British Museum's new wing as £1.2 billion. The correct figure is £1.1 billion.
  • Clarification: The piece on 'Cycling infrastructure in London' (June 8) referred to 'cycle superhighways' as a single network. They are actually separate routes managed by Transport for London.
