Two men from Bromley in South London have been arrested following a police operation that uncovered more than 60 allegedly stolen tools in a van. The discovery, which also included balaclavas, gloves, and nitrous oxide cannisters, has prompted Kent Police to launch an appeal to reunite the items with their rightful owners.
Police Stop Leads to Major Find
The incident occurred on February 7 this year when officers pulled over a white Ford Transit van in Kent. Police initiated the stop after suspecting the passenger might be in possession of controlled drugs. Upon searching the vehicle, they found a significant cache of tools along with other suspicious items.
The two men were promptly arrested at the scene. They have since been released on bail as investigations continue. The seizure highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat theft and burglary in the region.
Tools Linked to Multiple Burglaries
PC Thomas Wild of Kent Police stated that enquiries into the seized tools are actively underway. He revealed that some of the items have already been linked to at least 10 burglaries across the southeast, with cases dating back several years.
"We are now appealing to victims of burglary and theft who think we may have recovered their stolen property to call us," PC Wild said. "You will be asked to provide proof that the item is yours to ensure a proper reunion."
How to Contact Investigators
Individuals who believe their stolen tools might be among those recovered are urged to contact the West Kent appeals line at 01622 604100. When calling, it is essential to quote the reference number 46/21165/26 to assist officers in processing the claims efficiently.
This case underscores the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with police in tackling property crimes. Authorities are working diligently to return the stolen goods and bring those responsible to justice.
