Forensic officers are investigating a drive-by shooting in Brixton that left four people hospitalized early Saturday morning, an incident the Metropolitan Police has condemned as an act of indiscriminate violence.
Shots were fired on Coldharbour Lane in south London at around 1:14 AM, prompting an immediate response from police and ambulance services. A 25-year-old man remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries, while three others, aged 21, 47, and 70, were also taken to hospital but are not believed to have life-threatening or life-changing injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, leading the investigation, stated: "We understand how concerning this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working at pace to identify those responsible. This was an act of indiscriminate violence, and we will work relentlessly to bring the suspects to justice."
No arrests have been made yet. Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with footage or information to come forward. They can be contacted on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
Local residents can expect an increased police presence in the area over the coming days. Officers, including specialist crime officers, arrived within minutes and provided first aid alongside the London Ambulance Service. Two victims were taken to a major trauma centre, the other two to a local hospital, with support from London's air ambulance.
