A woman was violently assaulted near a train station in Birmingham last night, with her hijab forcibly pulled off during a terrifying car robbery attempt. The incident occurred on Hunton Hill in Erdington, close to Gravelly Hill train station, at approximately 6:30pm on March 10, 2026.
Attack Details and Police Investigation
According to West Midlands Police, the victim was approaching her car to drive to a mosque for prayers when three white men approached her. One attacker grabbed her from behind, pulled off her hijab, and pushed her to the ground while attempting to steal her vehicle. The woman's elderly father, who is in his 70s, intervened to protect her but was pushed into a gate during the struggle.
The attackers fled the scene on foot after the woman's screams alerted attention. Police are currently reviewing mobile phone footage and CCTV from the area to identify the suspects, but no arrests have been made yet. Inspector Hayley Thompson from Sutton and Erdington police described the incident as a terrifying ordeal and confirmed that extra officers have been deployed in the area.
