West London Menorahs Vandalised in Suspected Hate Crimes
Jewish Menorahs vandalised in West London hate crimes

Police in London are investigating two suspected hate crimes after Jewish Menorahs were vandalised in West London this week.

Details of the Incidents

The first incident occurred on Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill at approximately 4.30pm on Tuesday, December 16. A photograph of a Menorah was defaced with white paint.

Later on the same day, a second Menorah located near the Holland Park roundabout was reported as damaged. The display, which had been installed on Saturday, December 13, was found to be unable to light up. The exact time this damage occurred remains unknown.

Police Response and Community Impact

The Metropolitan Police have stated that officers are investigating the incidents "at pace." Superintendent Owen Renowden, the Met's hate crime lead, acknowledged the particular distress caused to the Jewish community following a recent terror attack in Australia.

"This has been a tremendously difficult week for the Jewish community," said Supt Renowden. "I appreciate how these hate crime incidents will cause further hurt and distress."

In response, the police have implemented additional visible patrols in the area and are working closely with local community and religious leaders.

Appeal for Information

Authorities are treating the reports with extreme seriousness and are keeping an open mind as to whether the two acts of vandalism are connected.

Superintendent Renowden has encouraged anyone with information to assist the investigation. Police are specifically asking for witnesses who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the Holland Park area this week.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting the relevant reference numbers:
