Islington stalker reappears outside victim's home three times

The Metropolitan Police have launched a fresh investigation after a stalker who attacked a woman in North London and attempted to force entry into her home was seen outside her residence three times in a week, nearly a year after the initial incident.

Attack and attempted break-in

The suspect first approached the woman from behind in a communal garden in May 2025, placing a strong-smelling cloth over her mouth before she managed to escape. The following day, on May 25, 2025, the victim, a woman in her 20s, reported to police that the same man tried to force entry into her home on Hornsey Road in Islington. Initial enquiries, including CCTV reviews, failed to identify a suspect, and the case was closed.

Recent sightings prompt new appeal

The victim reported seeing the stalker outside her home on three separate occasions in April 2026: Saturday, April 4; Tuesday, April 7; and Friday, April 10. This triggered a new investigation, including door-to-door enquiries. Police have worked with the victim to create an e-fit of the suspect, which has been circulated to thousands of officers.

The suspect is described as a black man, in his early 40s, approximately 6ft tall, wearing a black jacket with a Stone Island logo on the arm.

Police appeal for information

Detective Constable Paul Le Fevre said: “Since these latest incidents were reported to us, we have carried out extensive enquiries, including working with the victim to create an e-fit picture of the suspect and circulating it to thousands of officers, and reviewing many hours of CCTV footage. Despite this, we have so far been unable to identify the suspect in the picture and are now appealing to the public for help. We would ask anyone who recognises the man in the image, or who has information about these incidents, to please get in touch with us. We need to trace this man. Any detail you can give us could help identify him.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference 01/7421034/26, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
