British rapper Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has gone on trial in Australia accused of sexually assaulting a fan after a concert in Perth in September 2024. The 30-year-old faces six counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault causing bodily harm, and one count of impeding someone’s normal breathing.
Prosecutor Danielle Clarke told the court that the woman, then 20, was a devoted fan who had attended Barrientos’ performance and referred to him as her “celebrity crush.” The woman had recorded a video stating she “loved Yung Filly and wanted him to be her future husband.”
Initial encounter and alleged escalation
The court heard that the woman was invited into the VIP lounge after the show, where Barrientos approached her. She told the court she had “four or six shots” of free tequila but “knew what I was doing.” While still at the venue, Barrientos allegedly put his hand down her underwear. When she protested, “I’m not like that,” he reportedly replied, “It really shows your age,” and told her, “you’re coming home with me tonight.”
At around 3 a.m., the woman left the venue with Barrientos and his all-male entourage, believing they were heading to an after-party. Instead, they arrived at the Intercontinental Hotel on Hay Street, where his bodyguard allegedly took her phone before they entered the hotel room.
Non-consensual encounter and injuries
Prosecutor Clarke said the initial sexual contact was consensual, but the encounter became non-consensual when Barrientos allegedly became more aggressive. The woman claims she asked him to stop biting her, but he continued, slapped her, and bit her even harder. One bite broke the skin on her breast, requiring a tetanus shot at the hospital later.
The jury heard that Barrientos held his hands around her neck “tightly” for several seconds and told her to say “derogatory things.” When she refused and began to cry, she “didn’t know how to get herself out of the situation and decided to do what the accused wanted,” Clarke stated.
Alleged rape and aftermath
Barrientos allegedly raped the woman multiple times, including anally, before ordering a burger through room service. As she was leaving, he reportedly told his bodyguard she was “not good in bed” and grabbed her breast, asking, “How good are her boobs?”
The woman reported the incident to police the following day and said she took photos of her injuries that morning. Defence lawyer David Edwardson did not give an opening statement, and Barrientos has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The trial is expected to run for two weeks.
