An urgent manhunt is underway after a prisoner escaped from a custodial transport van in Plumstead, South East London. Temitope Segun, aged 25, was last seen near Woolwich High Street at approximately 6:40 PM on Monday, June 8.
Details of the Escape
Police believe Segun has links to several areas in South East London, including Plumstead, Abbey Wood, and Woolwich. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black trousers, and black trainers.
Authorities have issued a clear warning: do not approach him under any circumstances. Anyone who spots him should dial 999 immediately, quoting reference 2270/10JUN. Sightings can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with the same reference.
Police Statement
Detective Sergeant Claudine Manning, leading the search, said: “My team of dedicated officers are working around the clock to trace and apprehend Temitope Segun. It is imperative that the public contact police via 999 if they see him – or know where he may be. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black trousers and black trainers and has links across South London.”

The escape comes in the wake of another high-profile case where a convicted rapist was accidentally freed from prison. Bernadin Dedic, 48, who had threatened his victim with a knife, was mistakenly released from HMP Wormwood Scrubs in February after a court official wrongly informed the prison he had been granted bail. He fled to Bosnia via the Eurostar and has remained there, offering excuses such as a heart attack and a skiing accident. On Tuesday, he was convicted in absentia at Isleworth Crown Court on all nine counts.
