A former crew member on the comedy series Shrinking has filed a lawsuit against Warner Bros. Television, alleging that a director and executive producer grabbed and groped her left breast. Mindy McKoin, who worked as an assistant director on the show, also claims she was wrongfully terminated after raising concerns about alleged wage theft.
The lawsuit, filed in California state court on Tuesday, accuses director and executive producer Randall Winston of sexual harassment and battery. It also brings claims of retaliation and wrongful termination, with McKoin seeking unspecified damages, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Allegations of groping at wrap party
According to the complaint, McKoin claims Winston groped her during a wrap party in June 2024, while she was sitting at a bar speaking to another crew member. McKoin alleges Winston 'reached around [her] from behind and grabbed and groped her left breast'. She says she reported the alleged incident but that it was never addressed.
Her lawyer, Avi Gholian, claims in the lawsuit that Warner Bros. 'knew or should have known' about the alleged harassment and failed to take 'immediate and appropriate corrective action'.
Warner Bros. denies allegations
Warner Bros. Television has denied the allegations were substantiated. In a statement to THR, a spokesperson said: 'The safety and well-being of our cast and crew is the Studio's highest priority.'
'The Studio takes all allegations of misconduct and retaliation seriously and has policies and procedures in place to prevent, investigate, and address such concerns,' the spokesperson added. 'Once the allegations were raised, the Studio immediately engaged an independent third-party to conduct a thorough investigation, consistent and in accordance with those policies and procedures. Based on the completed investigation, the Studio concluded that the allegations were unsubstantiated and unsupported by any corroborating evidence.'
Winston did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the publication.
Wage theft claims and career background
The complaint also alleges that production altered McKoin's time card and those of other crew members to show fewer hours than they actually worked. McKoin began working on Shrinking in 2024 as a key second assistant director. In 2026, she was made the sole key second assistant director for the show's fourth season, according to the lawsuit.
Shrinking, which stars Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, follows a group of friends and therapists. The series was renewed for a fourth season earlier this year, after its first two seasons received nine Emmy nominations, including a best comedy series nod in 2025.
