Police have launched a manhunt for Lee Culleton, 45, following a fatal hit-and-run in East London that killed a 28-year-old motorcyclist. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 19, at approximately 9:20 pm on the A12's Whalebone Lane in Romford.
Victim pronounced dead at the scene
Emergency services attended the crash involving a car and a motorbike. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
The driver of the car fled the scene on foot, heading towards Chadwell Heath. Police have identified the suspect as Lee Culleton, who is described as being about 5ft 10in tall, with a medium to large build and short, grey hair. He is known to frequent Canvey Island in Essex.
Police appeal for information
Detective Inspector Mark Braithwaite, leading the investigation, said: “We are keen to speak with Mr Culleton in connection with this incident, which has resulted in a man tragically losing his life. If any members of the public see Culleton, we strongly advise you not to approach him and to call 999 as soon as possible.”
Detectives are urging anyone who sees Culleton or has information about his whereabouts to call 999, quoting reference CAD 7142/19JUL. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
