Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is no stranger to life's shocks in EastEnders, but even he was caught off guard when his friend George Knight (Colin Salmon) confessed to murder. The dramatic revelation unfolded after George's adoptive father Eddie Knight (Christopher Fairbank) died under suspicious circumstances.
Eddie Knight's Dark Past
Eddie made his debut in the BBC One soap over two years ago, arriving in Walford with his wife Gloria. It soon emerged that Eddie was a vile racist who had murdered a Black man decades earlier. George, who witnessed the killing as a child, later discovered in 2024 that the victim, Henry Kofi Asare, was his biological father.
The former Queen Vic landlord testified against Eddie in court, leading to a conviction for racially motivated murder. Eddie was sentenced to prison, and George wanted nothing more to do with him.
Eddie's Return and Blackmail
Earlier this year, Eddie returned with news that he was dying. He blackmailed Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) into letting him stay in the family home by offering money to save Harry's Barn and Knight Fusion. George confronted Eddie about his treatment of Gina Knight (Francesca Henry), and during the argument, Eddie began choking after taking his medication. George watched as Eddie reached for water, but instead of helping, George drank the water himself, leaving Eddie to die.
George's Reckless Boxing Match
Haunted by his actions, George made a dangerous decision to return to the boxing ring, despite suffering from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) from his boxing career. Medics had warned him that further boxing could cause serious brain damage. In tonight's episode, George fought Mark Fowler Jnr (Stephen Aaron-Sipple) and was knocked out.
Phil took George aside, concerned by his friend's behavior. George confessed to killing Eddie and revealed the details of his death. Phil tried to reassure George, saying that letting Eddie die wasn't the same as murder, but George remained unconvinced.
Phil's Warning
Phil told George that the only thing that matters now is keeping quiet, as his family needs him out of prison. However, George has already told someone about the death, raising questions about whether he can keep the secret forever.
