A man in his 30s was taken to hospital after being attacked with a dumbbell in North London, with police still searching for the suspect. The incident occurred on Hemingford Road, Islington, just before 4:40pm on Monday, June 29, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Attack details and police response
The suspect approached the victim and struck him with the weight. Officers from the Met Police and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene. The victim's injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening or life-changing. Police believe the attack was an isolated incident and that the two individuals are known to each other.
Investigation and appeal for witnesses
No arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large. A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating after a man was assaulted in Islington. Around 4.40pm on Monday, June 29, officers were called to Hemingford Road following reports of an assault. The suspect approached another man, aged in his 30s, and attacked him with a dumbbell. Police attended with the London Ambulance Service. The victim was taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening or changing. No arrests have been made, and officers are making enquiries. This is believed to be an isolated incident, and early indications are that the victim and suspect are known to each other. Anybody who witnessed the incident is urged to call 101, quoting reference 6000/29JUN.”
The London Ambulance Service was contacted for comment but did not provide additional details.
