Man, 25, Critical After Brixton Drive-By Shooting

A 25-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital following a drive-by shooting in Brixton, south London, in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police were called to Coldharbour Lane at 1:14 a.m. after reports of shots fired from a car. Four people were rushed to hospital, including the 25-year-old who remains in a life-threatening condition. The other victims—a 21-year-old, a 47-year-old, and a 70-year-old—sustained injuries that are not life-threatening or life-changing, according to authorities.

Officers, including specialist crime officers, arrived at the scene within four minutes and provided emergency first aid alongside the London Ambulance Service. No arrests have been made yet, but Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo stated that detectives are working ‘at pace’ to track down those responsible. He described the incident as ‘an act of indiscriminate violence’ and urged anyone with information or footage to come forward.

‘We understand how concerning this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working at pace to identify those responsible,’ Bhangoo said. ‘This was an act of indiscriminate violence, and we will work relentlessly to bring the suspects to justice. It is vital that anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information that could assist the investigation, comes forward.’

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed that four people were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds. The 25-year-old man remains in a life-threatening condition.
