Far-right remigration activist Thomas Moffitt attacked during debate in Manchester
Far-right activist attacked during Manchester debate

A British activist advocating for 'remigration' was assaulted while holding a public debate on colonisation in central Manchester. Two juveniles and one person in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault.

Incident Details

Thomas Moffitt, who goes by the name Young Bob, was seated at a 'Change my mind' stand inspired by conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. He was debating colonialism and arguing that subjects of the British Empire should not necessarily be welcome in the UK, under the banner 'Reform should be more radical.'

During the exchange, he turned to a gathering crowd and said, 'All of you who throw water are cowards, you don’t actually want to fight for what you believe in.' One of the youths responded, 'I’ll fight you b****.'

Moffitt, a proponent of far-right remigration policy that seeks to forcibly send immigrants and their descendants back to their countries of origin, continued debating. He claimed he was fired from McDonald’s for his political views. The situation escalated when he was kicked to the ground, his phone smashed, and his camera and banner stolen. The group continued attacking him as he tried to retrieve his equipment, forcing him into a fetal position for protection.

An older Black man who had been debating with Moffitt about the benefits of immigration intervened to protect him from further harm.

Aftermath

Moffitt posted photos of his bruised face on social media, stating that police told him it was 'by far the most high-profile assault case they’ve seen.' He added, 'Both of the cameras I had on the day have been broken or stolen. My phone has been smashed. They stole some of my stand equipment, including a banner and a chair.'

He announced plans to organise a 'team of lads' for security and to make a 'stand on remigration' at the same location. 'This is England. I do not want to become a demographically replaced hellhole. What I saw that day was a group of migrant lads being egged on by left-wing agitators.'

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: 'Officers were called to an incident on Market Street, Manchester yesterday at around 3.20pm following reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a man in his 20s who reported he had been assaulted. He was treated at the scene for his injuries. Three people, two juveniles and one person in their 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault. They remain in custody for questioning.'

Inspector Lee Ferguson added: 'We are aware of videos being shared on social media of the incident, and we are continuing to review all available footage to identify those involved. If anyone has any information, please get in touch.'

Who is Young Bob?

The activist has been promoted by Elon Musk and Tommy Robinson as part of the remigration movement. The Christian activist regularly appears on GB News and at demonstrations, aiming to build a youth movement through debates and social media clips. He was filming during the Southampton riots following the death of Henry Nowak, which helped identify many suspects to police.

He regularly holds 'Change my mind' stands on abortion, transgenderism, and migration. He claims: 'We’ve had bottles of urine chucked at us, glue chucked at us, cans of beans chucked in my face. But we must continue the fight regardless of what country we’re in, because the West needs conservatism.'

He has expressed admiration for Charlie Kirk, saying: 'If I were ever able to have the opportunity to speak to Erika [Kirk], I would firstly give huge admiration towards her husband on the formula and ideas that I drew great inspiration from.'
