A former Metropolitan Police officer is facing fraud and corruption charges after being accused of scamming luxury retailers out of thousands of pounds worth of online shopping purchases.
Charges Against Sunna Harrison-Aziz
Sunna Harrison-Aziz, 28, a former PC in the Met, has been charged with five counts of corrupt or improper exercise of police powers and privileges, four allegations of fraud, and one charge of perverting the course of justice. Harrison-Aziz, from Coulsdon, South London, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, May 5, to face the charges for the first time.
Alleged Fraud Details
It is alleged that the former police officer defrauded Christian Dior, Cartier, Moncler Spa, and Currys by claiming not to have received goods she bought online. She is said to have pretended not to have received a Dior bikini worth £700, and is further accused of using police systems while creating a letter to the brand.
Harrison-Aziz is accused of a similar fraud against Cartier, claiming not to have received a £1,920 Mini Love wedding band, against Currys over the delivery of an Apple MacBook worth £2,599, and involving Moncler Spa and an £840 Abelle jacket.
Corruption and Perverting Justice
On the corruption charges, Harrison-Aziz is accused of four incidents between January and September 2022 when she allegedly accessed police files improperly. She also faces an allegation of attempting to pervert the course of justice by hiding her iPhone from police, lying that she had lost it and it was broken, and then allegedly destroying the handset after the police search of her home had concluded.
Investigation and Court Appearance
Harrison-Aziz was initially reported to the Met's Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command, and criminal charges have been brought after an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct. She is set to appear on bail at the court on Tuesday (May 5) from 10am.
